Happy Holidays! Now that Thanksgiving is past, we can start the next celebration, which we’ll do with a couple recent acquisitions. Shown below are an ornate brass music stand and a hanging lamp. We think the music stand would be a beautiful addition to a holiday display regardless of whether it is used for its intended purpose or not! Additional photos are on line at Recent Acquisitions.
Are you decorating this year with any particular theme in mind? We subscribe to Victorian Homes and their winter edition had some great ideas for holiday decorating, though those Victorians really seemed to go over the top! We tend to go over the top ourselves, whether it’s with Christmas ornaments on the tree, our Santa collection, or just the clocks we live with year round.
If you are looking for ways to celebrate, the town of Leesburg will have a Victorian Christmas Celebration on the 20th complete with carriage rides, Dickens carolers and photos with St. Nick. If you’re willing to go a bit further, Maymont Mansion in Richmond will have holiday tours through Jan. 4th. It’s a beautiful estate and the $5 suggested admission can’t be beat! Also, while not necessarily designed to get you in the holiday spirit, check out Nichol’s Hardware’s 100th Anniversary on the 14th; they’ll have a float in the Purcellville Christmas Parade on the 13th.
We have several special hours this month. We’ll be closing at 4 p.m. on the 24th for Christmas Eve and stay closed through the 25th to celebrate Christmas with our families. Similarly, we’ll close at 4 p.m. on the 31st and stay closed on the 1st in honor of the New Year. As we have some travel plans this year, please look for your next newsletter on or about January 4th.
We wish you and your loved ones a joyous holiday season!
