April 1, 2015
Is it really spring yet? If you’re lucky enough to be on spring break, we hope you’re enjoying it! It’s time for us to go back to regular hours, i.e., being open on Sunday afternoons, but since the first Sunday of this month, the 5th, is Easter, we will not be open this Sunday. There are no other special hours for this month.
Check out the maple mule ear chairs shown below. This is a pair that Bob has caned using a diamond weave pattern. If you’ve liked our Facebook page, you may have already seen this photo. Additional photos and those of other recent acquisitions can be seen on our website at Recent Acquisitions.
It seems to be that time of year when things start happening in Western Loudoun! For example, the Bluemont Community Center will host breakfast with the Easter Bunny on the 4th from 8:30 until 10:00; call 540-554-8643 to register (required). Then stay for an Easter Egg Hunt, with ages 5 and under beginning at 10:00 and ages 6 through 12 starting at 10:30. For those who prefer a later start—or more adult entertainment—Twin Oaks Tavern Winery on Raven Rocks Road will be open on Easter itself, the 5th. Their Egg Hunt begins at 1 p.m. and they’ll have live music with an open mic all afternoon.
Great Country Farms has their first “harvest” of the year at the Egg Hunt & Marshmellow Harvest on the 11th & 12th. While that’s certainly appropriate for children, their Farm Market is just a great place to get local produce as well as diary and meat, so having young children isn’t a prerequisite to attend. J Also on April 11th, the Bluemont Vineyard will be hosting the 951 5K Run or Walk to benefit the Bluemont Community Center and a local boy diagnosed with leukemia; see http://bluemontvineyard.com/951_5k.html for more info. After the race there’s a free wine tasting for registered runners and walkers age 21 and over.
We hope you’ll stop by the store when you’re in the area as Bob’s always happy to talk about antiques and restorations. Happy Easter!
