This is it—the very last Iron Gate Antiques newsletter! You may have anticipated this when we lost our retail space in September of 24, but it’s ok because Bob and Cecil are ready to retire at the end of the month. They will be working hard until then to finish all the work in progress, so if you’re waiting for something, please anticipate it being ready for pick-up soon. We want to thank you for your patronage over the years. Bob plans to continue to cane chairs and maybe do some rush seats, as well. He’ll retain the Iron Gate email (bob@irongateantiques.com), so please reach out to him if/when you need some of that type of work done. For other furniture restoration, Bob’s been referring people to Michael Reid who can be reached at 540.326.6061 or bigredhandymanco@gmail.com, as Bob says he does good work. Please note that we will be closed on Saturday, December 6th and that Bob will be away December 5th-9th. We plan to close early on Christmas Eve, but just how early depends on how much work gets done between now and then! For those of you interested in events in the area, there are many beginning with tree lightings in Hamilton on the 5th, Lovettsville on the 6th, and Purcellville on the 13th as part of their annual celebration; see below for additional details. Additionally, while we hope you’ll purchase your antiques from us for the next few weeks, I can’t resist sharing the Winter Wonderland event at Hamilton House on the 7th, because everyone needs to see mini-alpacas! It seems every LoCo business has special events this month—from a wreath workshop on the 4th at Lovettsville’s Stockyard Brewery (where they have those adorable mini-Highland cows!!) to German Christmas Markets at Bluemont Vineyard on Saturdays in December, a Christmas Murder Mystery at Dirt Farm Brewing on the 12th, and a French Wild Game Dinner with a performance featuring arias from Handel’s Messiah at Shiloh Manor Farm on the 13th. There’s really something for everyone! We wish all of you the best and thank you for your business! Bob & Lynne McCann
