This month we’re highlighting the restoration of a mahogany veneer bedroom from the 1920’s or 1930’s. After stripping and refinishing, they look like new, don’t they?
Now that the weather is warmer, it’s time for more outdoor events. As you might imagine, nearby Great Country Farms has embraced this and their Strawberry Festival is running this weekend. On Father’s Day, June 15th, they’re having a fishing contest at their stocked pond, which sounds like fun for Dad/Granddad and the little ones. Then June 23-29 is Teacher Appreciation Week to honor teachers and school employees and their families, not only at GCF, but also at The Henway Cider Barn, Bluemont Vineyard, and Dirt Farm Brewing. What a great week to be a teacher or school employee!
It’s also the time of year for the annual Western Loudoun Art & Studio Tour. This year’s dates are June 6-8. Their website (https://wlast.org/) has maps to help find studios by location or artist. It also provides opportunities for volunteers, so is worth checking out. I enjoy seeing how creative people are and in such a variety of mediums; it’s definitely a fun weekend.
Finally, did you know that there is line dancing at the Bluemont Community Center? Details and registration are available at Loudoun.gov/PRCSConnect. Could be a good time to try something new . . .
