May 1, 2018

Happy May Day! If you follow our Facebook page, you may have seen the map case in its “before” and “during” states.  The “after” state is shown below, though the “before” and “during” photos are also there.  There were 48 drawers with 48 placard holders, 96 pulls, 192 screws, and 240 brass nails.  What a lot of work . . .

Wondering what’s going on in Loudoun County in May?  There are a lot of events now that the weather is better.  Consider the following, for example:

  • 6 May – Cinco de Mayo at Dirt Farm Brewing. Bluemont’s own will have tacos & a full line up of beers from noon until 7 P.M.

  • 19 May – Purcellville Music & Art Festival. With live music, local food, local beer & wine, an art show and kids activities, this is sure to be a hit—particularly since there’s free admission. Check out the Irish dancers from Celtic Rhythm School of Dance in Purcellville at 11 A.M.
  • 20 May – The Bluemont Citizens Association is having a Spring Fling at Hogan’s Field from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. Stop by to see what that entails! You may even have a chance to see their quarterly newsletter, the Bluemont Bugle, which includes a nice article on Iron Gate Antiques.

  • 26-27 May – Strawberry Jubilee at Great Country Farm. Be there at 9 A.M. if you want to pick your own berries. Otherwise, enjoy the Diaper Derby for babies 7-12 months at 1 P.M., a pie eating contest at 2 P.M., baby goats ang piglets, and live music throughout the day.
  •                                                            Lynne & Bob McCann
