We’re ALMOST back on track with our newsletters ( ) and appreciate your patience as we went on vacation. An antique store we visited in Sarria, Spain had a couple gorgeous clocks, so this newsletter will focus on clocks—one of Bob’s favorite topics!

Below are two Recent Acquisitions. The first is an E. Ingraham Company Regulator clock, referring to clocks in 19th century train stations where conductors would change or “regulate” the time on the clocks from one station to the next to a “standard” time. This clock also has a calendar and is an 8-day clock, so only needs to be wound weekly. The case is oak and measures 37” x 14-1/2”. The E. Ingraham Company was founded in 1885 by Elias Ingraham who received numerous patents for clock cases during his career and passed later that year at the age of 80. Following in his father’s footsteps, his son Edward took over the company. Edward also focused on the cases rather than the works of the clock, receiving a patent for the process of applying black enamel paint to clock cases, which was frequently used on mantel clocks. The second clock shown below also has an oak case—one which is more elaborate than the former. It, too, has a calendar and is an 8-day clock. This one measures 38” x 14”.

As you may have expected, we will be closed Monday for the Independence Day holiday. If you are looking for a way to celebrate, the Purcellville parade starts at 11 and will be followed by a community celebration at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. The free lunch includes Monk’s Bar-b-que. (Yum!) There will also be bluegrass music, a patriotic sing-a-long, a reading of the preamble of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and prayers for our nation. Everyone is welcome, so we hope to see you there!
