It’s really starting to feel like fall! Thanks to those who came to the Bluemont Fair a few weeks ago on what turned out to be a nice weekend from a weather perspective. Let’s hope for good weather this weekend for two of our favorite fall events: the Waterford Fair and Joshua’s Hands Fall Festival. The latter is completely free and perfect for the whole family. We appreciate its focus on heritage arts (e.g., quilting and caning) and enjoy the auction. The Waterford Fair is a chance to see master craftsmen (e.g., blacksmiths and potters) in action, as well as tour some of the historic houses. It benefits the Waterford Foundation, which is focused on preserving the historic character of the town. If it inspires you to make changes at your home, we have several Waterford chairs for sale!
Below are photos of a table made from a Singer sewing machine base. You may have seen these on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/IronGateAntiques/ , which is a nice way to stay in touch with us between monthly newsletters.
Our website, which has recently updated photos, includes other examples of repurposed furniture under the Conversions tab. Bob loves doing those! His latest idea is to turn a Victorian pump organ into a sink base for our guest bathroom. Presuming the ceiling is high enough, that should work well. We’ll see . ..
There are a few special hours for this month. We will be closed on Saturday the 6th, but open on the Columbus Day holiday on the 8th. Hopefully you’ll be at the events described above on that Saturday anyway. Have a great month!
