August 2021

Have you noticed that our motto is “where the unique is the norm . . .?” The work being featured this month falls into the unique category. While we’ve featured upholstery work previously, the sofa below is a single piece that’s 10’ long. Besides the change of fabric, Bob and Cecil had to build a wooden base for the sofa. I think it looks amazing with the new white fabric and new base. I’m also impressed that they managed to get it out of and back into the room! (Note to self:  Remember to consider if a piece will fit through the door before making a furniture purchase.)

If you’ve not been to Bluemont lately, you may want to plan a visit around one of the festivals offered by Great Country Farms. Their Peach Fuzztival is the 7th and 8th, and The Big Dig, which is the potato harvest, is the 14th and 15th. The fields are turned, so that picking the potatoes isn’t difficult. What’s difficult is figuring out what to make with them after getting carried away and bringing home a LOT of them. (We love potato soup with bacon and cheddar cheese, but potato salad and potato pancakes are good, too.)

We’ll be closed on Saturday, August 7th as we’ll be attending Bob’s high school reunion, which was delayed a year because of COVID. The last time we went to his reunion, Sean was just one month old and meeting Bob’s family for the 1st time. Now he’s a Marine. Time flies!

Looking ahead, the Bluemont Fair is scheduled for September 18th and 19th. Fingers crossed that new COVID restrictions don’t impact that wonderful event . . . In the meantime, have a great month, everyone!
