December 2022

December 1, 2022

To celebrate the holidays, we’re having a clock sale! To get 20% off any of the clocks we have in stock, just ask Bob what time it is. 😊 We even have a recent clock acquisition to highlight this month:  the regulator clock shown below.

While this was made by the Sessions Clock Company in Forestville, Connecticut, it is painted with the word “Weaubleau,” a town in Missouri that was founded in 1867. Weaubleau is also the name of an Institute or College that operated from 1873 until 1914, under the auspices of the Weaubleau Congregational Christian Church. The Sessions Clock Company was founded in 1903 and made a variety of clocks until the 1930’s including advertising wall clocks like this one that appears to be a Regulator #1. (Incidentally, we have a Sessions Regulator #2 in our kitchen!)

There are many opportunities to support small, local businesses like ours during the holiday season. Christmas markets are one way to do that. Check out Holiday for the Horses on Saturday, December 3rd, at 15993 Woodgrove Road in Purcellville to support The Gingersnap Girls Equine Education & Rescue Foundation. On December 4th, 50 West Vineyard in Middleburg will host their first holiday market. The Purcellville Christmas parade will be on December 10th, with a holiday market at Bush Tabernacle. Bear Chase Brewery will have Selfies with Santa on December 11th. Seems like the events never end . . .

We do have some special hours this month. We’ll be closing early on the 24th, and not re-open until the 27th. Additionally, we’ll close early on the 31st and not re-open until January 2, 2023. Since it gets dark soooo early now, it’s tempting to close early. If you anticipate a visit to the store after 5 p.m., recommend calling to confirm someone will be there; we’ll likely shift to our winter hours (i.e., closing at 5 p.m.) beginning in January.

Hope everyone enjoys the holiday! Celebrate free Irish dance performances at the Dulles Town Center at 6 p.m. on December 13th and 15th; they’re guaranteed to get you in the mood for Christmas!
