January 2018

January 2, 2018

Happy New Year!  If you’ve been thinking of having some upholstery done in leather, now is the time as this month Pacific Hide and Leather has reduced their price on leather anywhere from $ 2.00 to $5.00 off per square foot of hide. This can mean a savings of $100 or more for a sofa.  What a great opportunity!  However, if leather doesn’t work for you, there are many other wonderful fabrics available that can take a beloved piece of furniture from worn to “Wow!”  The photos directly below are from the Upholstery and Caning Examples page of our website, and give an idea of the change new fabric can make.  Among the other examples there are those showing how pieces that appear to be fit only for the dump become the fine pieces of furniture they once were.  Check it out!

Victorian Sofa prior to restoration

Please see below the photos of our featured acquisition for this month:  a pair of Victorian chairs with caned seats.  These are not only attractive, but also very comfortable.  There are additional photos, as well of those of other recent acquisitions, on the Recent Acquisitions tab of our website at Recent Acquisitions].

Now that it’s winter (and if there was any question about that, step outside without a jacket to verify!), we have transitioned to our winter hours.  We’ll be open from 10 A.M. until 6 P.M. Monday through Saturday.  Sundays we’ll be closed, open by appointment only.  Note that we will be open on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 15th, so that’s a good day to come out to the store if you have the day off.

Finally, for those who live in the area, Joshua’s Hands is again holding a Valiant Warrior Quilting Event in Purcellville from the 12th until the 21st.  Since January 2011, the group has made 1300+ quilts for Wounded Warriors.  No sewing experience is necessary.  See http://www.joshuashands.org/Valiant_Warrior_Quilting.html for details and ways you can help.
