November 2023

November 1, 2023

Have you noticed that it seems like winter already? Some of us preferred the warm temperatures of this past weekend, but we knew they wouldn’t last forever—alas!

November is a great month since it has two holidays:  Veterans Day and Thanksgiving. In honor of the former, we’d like to offer a 20 % discount to veterans on a single purchase if paying with cash or check and a 15% discount if paying with credit card through the month of November. Thank you for your service!

As for Thanksgiving, we’ll be closed on the 23rd and 24th to celebrate, but expect to be open on Saturday, the 25th. (If that changes, we’ll post something on our Facebook page as well as update our website.) Not only is that Small Business Saturday, but it’s also the day of the Bluemont Community Center’s annual juried holiday craft show. This free event will take place from 10 until 4.

Other opportunities for holiday shopping this month include:

  • The Purcellville Artisans Tour from 11 until 5 on the 4th and 5th. This tour features arts and agri-artisans (a term I’ve not heard!). See https://purcellvilleartisantour.com/ for details. The annual pumpkin smash at Great Country Farms is the same weekend and this year there’s a zip line for the pumpkins that ends with a smash; this could make the trip to Western Loudoun a bit more interesting if young ones are involved!
  • A holiday market at the Hamilton Safety Center on the 18th. There’s also a holiday bazaar at the Harmony United Methodist Church one block away from 9 until 2.
  • Nearby Dirt Farm Brewing is hosting their 5th annual Christmas market on the 26th. More than 20 vendors are scheduled to participate in this outdoor event, so wear warm clothes and prepare to shop for more handmade products if you didn’t get your fill earlier in the month.

If shopping isn’t of interest, you may want to consider other local events such as the 5th annual Pre-Turkey Hill Climb on the 22nd at Dirt Farm Brewing in which you park at the top and hike down and up as many times as you’d like until 11 AM; Bluemont Vineyard’s Lighting of the Vines launch night at 5:30 PM on the 24th; or the Henway Hard Cider 5K and 10K on the 26th to benefit Northern Virginia Food Rescue (see https://bishopsevents.com/event/2023-henway-hard-cider-5k-10k/ for details). Or, you may want to consider visiting the newest local brewery and winery, Bluemont Station, at Whitehall Estate.

Whatever brings you out to Loudoun County, we hope you’ll stop by the store to see how we may assist in meeting your holiday shopping needs. Hope everyone has a great month—and that we see you soon!
