As many of you know, Bob is a clock guy. By that I mean we stop at clock museums when we travel, he always looks at the clocks in antique stores and auctions, and he has LOTS! I think there are close to 60 clocks in the house—including the four hanging beside the desk where I’m typing this and another 15 in this room, plus the spot for the recently-repaired banjo clock that hasn’t made it home yet. With that as background, it is perhaps no surprise that the featured product this month is a clock. The wall clock shown below is a German and dates from the mid-1800’s. It’s an 8-day clock, which means it only needs to be wound once every 8 days. (This is so much more convenient than the 24-hour clocks that must be wound every day!) If you look at the first photo below, you’ll see a country scene with a hay wagon and a pond, but in the second photo, you can see the pendulum where the wagon had been. That’s because the wagon and the pond are painted on the inside of the glass door, which is known as reverse painting on glass. Very cool, right? The clock is 12” x 18”, so will fit virtually anywhere.

We have some good news to share in that Cecil is back at work today. Hooray! Particularly as that means his hand has healed, for which we’re very grateful. I’m sure he’d be happy to see you, so please stop by during the week since Cecil doesn’t work weekends.

Finally, one of our customers asked us to mention that he has a table with 12 chairs for sale. Obviously, that won’t fit in the store, so if you’re interested in a table that’s 11-1/2’ x 3-1/2’, give Bob a call.
