Looking for a traditional Victorian Christmas, but don’t know where to start? Check out the following website:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/victorianchristmas/activities.shtml. There you’ll find directions for 25 activities to do at home to make your own Victorian Christmas.  What fun!  While there’s even a recipe for a Christmas pudding, there’s a video at the following link that demonstrates just how easy it is:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XOKmaElzqw.

There are many local holiday celebrations that may be of interest. Middleburg will celebrate on the 7th with a review of the Middleburg Hunt—hounds and all—beginning at 11 a.m., Breakfast with Santa at the Middleburg Charter School, and a bronze fox sculpture reveal and dedication at noon at the Community Center where there will also be a craft show.  A Christmas parade will start at 2 p.m.

Purcellville will celebrate all month long with the town tree lighting on the 6th, a winter roller skate party on the 7th, and a parade on the 14th beginning at noon.  Also on the 14th, the Train Station will have an ornament workshop and photos with Santa; if you don’t catch him there, he’ll be at the Bush Tabernacle’s Christmas Market later that afternoon.  The holiday trolley light tours are scheduled for the 14th and 15th, while Santa will ride through town on a firetruck on the 20th and 21st.

The Leesburg Holiday Parade will also be on the 14th, but begins at 6 p.m.  Rock n’ Roll fans may appreciate the Tally Ho Theater’s JingleJams that day, though if you have youngsters, you may want to opt for the Rockin’ with Rudolph session at the Ida Lee Recreation Center on the 13th.

It sounds like we could spend the whole month preparing for the holidays! We do plan to be closed on Christmas, of course, but meanwhile will be open normal hours (10-6 Mon-Sat).  Our most recent acquisition is the English pitcher and basin shown below.  The pitcher is 10 and ½ inches tall and the basin is 16 inches wide,

We hope to see you soon!
