Is it a chair?  Yes.  Is it a table?  Yes.  This month’s featured Recent Acquisition is a single piece of furniture that is both a chair and a table.  Talk about convenient!  Sometimes called a “chair table” or “hutch chair,” these were made for hundreds of years in both England and America continuing well into the 19th century in the American countryside.  These proved very practical in small houses, particularly ones with little furniture.  Cabinetmakers frequently used pine for chair tables, but this one is walnut.

We’re starting a new tradition this year:  cutting our own Christmas tree.  From what Bob said about the traffic near Snickers Gap Christmas Tree Farm this weekend, it sounds like other people have decided to do the same.  However, there are multiple Christmas tree farms in Loudoun County that offer cut-your-own-trees.  Check out the listing on the Loudoun Farms website at https://loudounfarms.org/holidays-trees/.  Maybe there’s one near you!

One of my favorite holiday traditions is dancing to Christmas songs with Celtic Rhythm School of Dance, which offers Irish dance and ballet.  While there aren’t many opportunities to perform this year, we’ll be dancing at the Dulles Town Center mall at 6 p.m. on the 14th and 16th, a Monday and Wednesday.  And from Celtic Rhythm’s Facebook page is my motto:  You don’t stop dancing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop dancing. (#neverstopmoving) 😊  The show will definitely get you in the holiday spirit!

Speaking of holidays, we’ll be closed on the 25th and 26th for Christmas, then again on the 31st and 1st for New Year’s.  Wishing you and yours a safe and happy holiday season!
