September 2019

September 1, 2019

Now that it’s September, it’s Bluemont Fair time! This year’s Fair, the 50th, will be on the 21st-22nd, from 10 until 5 each day.  Admission is $7, but children 9 and under are free.  Boulder Crest Retreat Virginia is open to the public for walking tours Saturday & Sunday from 10 AM – 4PM. We invite you to stop by their welcome center, located on the main street of Snickersville Turnpike to learn more about their programs and services. Hats and shirts will be available for a suggested donation.  Boulder Crest will also offer live musical entertainment from local band, Rowdy Ace on the Retreat patio from 11am-2pm, cabin and lodge tours, as well as FREE popcorn and ice cream (while supplies last). The Annenberg Heroes Garden on-site also remains beautiful through the entire fall season. Stop by for a visit!

.Other activities include a rope bridge run by the Boy Scouts in the parking lot, a scavenger hunt for the children, and a petting zoo. Be sure to check out the new museum of Bluemont memorabilia in the E.E. Lake Store and the quilt show in the United Methodist Church.  See bluemontfair.org for additional information.  Please note that no pets are allowed at the Fair.

If you’re looking for dog-friendly events, there are several in the area in the near future starting with the free Loudoun Pet Expo at Franklin Park on the 8th; there will be 50+ vendors and a dog swim.  Nearby B Chord Brewing’s Dog Dayz of Summer is on the 15th and includes an agility course, while Dirt Farm Brewing will be hosting a Yappy Hour on the 22nd from 2 until 5 p.m.  If you’re in need of a pup to accompany you to one of these fun events, you may be able to find one at the Loudoun County Animal Shelter during Puppy Yoga at 10:30 on the 14th; preregistration is required for this event that promises to be amazing!

While you’re in the area, we hope you’ll stop by the store to see what’s new since your last visit. This month’s recently acquired items include the child’s recliner and the wrought iron table shown below.  Additional photos can be seen at http://irongateantiques.com/recent-acquisitions/

We look forward to seeing you soon!
